How a stop works

  1. The clock starts when the car stops on its marks.
  2. Jack up first (J). Nothing comes off until the car is in the air.
  3. Each wheel needs three taps: gun off, tyre swap, gun on. Keys 1 FL, 2 FR, 3 RL, 4 RR. Work the wheels in any order. Each label goes old tyre → nut off → new tyre → on ✓.
  4. Drop the jack (J), then GO! (G). The clock stops on release.
  5. Drop the jack with a wheel not on: +3.0 s. Release with a wheel not on: unsafe release, +5.0 s.

Real-world benchmark: a world-class stop takes about 2 seconds, and the record is just under 2 seconds.
